WHAT IS MENTORING FOR SUCCESS?
With everything that we have been through since the beginning of covid, the mental stress and the challenges to our way of life, it has become increasingly hard for us to find the mental wellness which is essential to our thriving in life and at work. My mentoring sessions are designed specifically to improve your mental wellbeing and to develop your individual abilities.
I use a holistic approach because I believe passionately that we should learn to reconnect our mind to our body, to rediscover that we are one inseparable unit, that the nervous system which governs our emotions and health includes our brain and all parts of our body. We all know about looking after our body with diet and exercise, but we often overlook the fact that our mind also needs care and attention. I will teach you practices for doing this which you can incorporate into your daily life. Breath work forms a key part of this, indeed paying attention to breathing is a vital element of my mentoring, and I will also show you how to make practical daily use of mindfulness techniques. Through this knowledge, you will gain a calmer sense of self, you will learn to communicate more effectively, and you will be empowered to resolve conflicts within yourself and with others.
Both in career and life, having a mentor is crucial to our continued growth and development. I have my own mentor, and I continue to learn every day. My mentoring will support and encourage you to manage your own learning so that you can maximise your potential, develop your skills, improve your performance, make more informed decisions, and become the person you want to be. This is a journey of personal growth and self-reflection leading to success.
“Humphrey has armed me with the tools to understand emotions and how to deal with them.” LC, London
Mentoring encourages the spirit of growth and development, and is about you achieving your own growth and success with my help. Mentoring is not direct career advice, and I do not take control of the relationship in the way that life coaches or counsellors do. Empathy, listening, and asking questions are the key. The answers come from you, and my role is to help you find them by getting to the heart of the issue.
My sessions will enable you to manage your own learning. By learning about who you truly are, you will take control of your behaviour and your future. I will use my experience and my ability to identify the core issues to give you guidance. I will challenge you to grow while giving you the support to do so. I will help you become more self-aware, resilient, and adaptable in the face of adversity.
Sharing my personal experiences is an important part of my mentoring work. As you can read in the ABOUT ME section of this website, I have no hesitation in sharing aspects of my life whenever I think they may help others in their development. I have found that this helps to build trust and inspire confidence. I create a safe and compassionate space for you to explore what you cannot explore elsewhere.
I specialise in mentoring you for your workplace, in your employment role, for your job. A place of work is a collection of people, all with their own feelings and issues, and yet we are often expected to behave as if we don’t have emotions, or that they have no place at work. By helping you to discover a deep understanding of how you operate as a person, I will give you the means to manage your emotions, and help you learn to manage your ongoing growth and development. This includes strategies for even the most challenging work scenarios, as well as tools and techniques for difficult work situations.
Everybody works better when they are not feeling negative. At work we are still an individual with feelings, but we are not free to express our negative thoughts and emotions as we would in a private setting. My experience will guide you in managing your emotions at work without unhealthy suppression or denial, or being driven to inappropriate behaviour.
